She doesn't remember her login off hand so I am letting her post under my account:

Was playing GW2 and then BSoD AGAIN!! This time I got fed up and decided to take a nap since I was tired after work.

The computer was off for 3 hours. Then I booted it back up and this is what I saw:

I then put the Win7 CD in and booted and all I saw were lines...

Why your PC shows Status: 0xc000000f.
It’s difficult to determine the main cause of this error, but the most likely cause is a hard drive failure or a corrupted boot sector.

Thank you ya but other than that notice the lines? The video card failed ... :( I can't afford a new one so for now am using Dave's old temp laptop without a screen so I have it hooked to my monitor and have my keyboard and mouse plugged in as well. Just using the laptop for its cpu while I am WITHOUT a computer...

Hard drive ... video card .. need windows redone ... crap crap crap :( Well .. at least so far the new memory DOES seem to work lol

Yeah.  I noticed the lines and that is not always easy to pin down.  Usually it could be the video card had failed or a bad connection to the slot.  And sometimes it could be a problem with the main board, the power supply, memory or even the processor.  But I would go after the video card first.

You know, when it comes to computer hardware, moisture and dust are truly it's worst enemies.

Dave discovered that after he was in the case last that there was some cord that had moved into the fan a bit and he suspects (cannot be entirely sure but at this point all we can do is speculate) that it stopped the fan and things got a bit hot in the case.

Are you talking about a case fan or the GPU fan?

Case fan Her case doesn't have the best airflow, I think the fan was going on the 5870 also so put her 4850 back in. Hard drives are fine no damage, mb a couple of leaking caps but everything is working 100%, just trying to maximize cooling at the moment.

In that case, you need to open the top of the case and install a exhaust fan

Somehow I can't see Dave being able to do that..

Anyway this is what Bryan sent me by train today:

Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition OC 1 GB

Oh, not bad.  But, just a little heads up.  Sapphire cards have been known to not to work with genuine ATI software.  You will most likely have to get your driver updates from sapphire's web site.

Ah GOOD to know!! Thanks

Will bring it home today and see how it fares after a month of my hard gaming and graphic stuff and spam fighting and spam investigating and all the tabs I open and everything I typically put my computer on like keep it on for months at a time. ;)

Considering the last time my vid card failed due to overheating I have been considering a new(er) case. What do you think? Time to replace the one Oli got me?

Well, keep in mind that newer computer hardware components puts out much more heat then earlier ones.  So in order to tame the heat that newer systems generate, you have to keep great air flow through the case.  I'm sorry to report that your current case was designed for show casing a much older system.  It was not designed for high air flow in mind.  So on that note, I would suggest a new case.  Something with large fans on top.

Okay .. sadly I can't afford much and feeling poor and depressed lately as I still am getting blue screens :( just not as often.  Dave thought it was my external by a process of elimination (considering he got no BSOD at his place and he did not have my external HDD attached so he figured it would be that) so he told me to do a Chkdsk which I did and it found no problems at all. Seems the only thing remaining is .. the memory which MemTest 86+ found no problems with in 3 passes .. or my 1Tb that I got from Sacha .. which also showed no problems in a scheduled Chkdsk.

Okay, so your blue screening still?  What is the stop error code?

Also, I have seen some mother board and processor combinations that were very picky about memory timings.  Especially so with brand name computers like HP and dell for examples.  If you can enter the BIOS settings and check to see if there is a turbo setting.  If so, try disabling it to see if it helps.
