Windows activated for free?
« on: November 25, 2019, 12:00:13 am »
So I ran across this random youtube video where the guy claims you can activate any version of windows for free?  I highly doubt it works but all the comments on this video say it does.

You just copy this code to a plain txt file and name it to something like "activator.cmd" for example.  The key is it must be a .cmd extension.  Then right click it and select run as admin.

Spoiler (hover to show)

Note:  You can't create and save this file to a copy of windows that has already been activated.  It will automatically delete it.

Based off what I have been hearing, there still maybe an open loophole for upgrading windows 7 to windows 10 for free.  But the talk is, if your going to do it, it has to be before windows 7 is end of life.  2nd option is, there are plenty of 3rd party resellers for windows 10 license key codes out there.  And you can get a vallid license for under $40.

As far as your brother still being on XP and has no internet access, there really is no sense to even worry about updating the OS.  No net access means no internet security risks for one.  And second, it's most likely to far behind technology wise to support windows 10 anyway.

So yeah.  Just to confirm.  You can still upgrade windows 7 to windows 10 for free.  Here is how.

Have a installed and activated version of windows 7 with service pack 1.
Download windows media creation tool and launch it.
Select "Upgrade this PC" from the options.  You have the option to install fully or upgrade and keep your old files.  You will get upgrade and keep files option first.  You will have to hit the back button if you want to change the way it installs.  But it will match your installed version of windows 7.  IE: home or pro.  32bit or 64bit.
Once installed, you have to activate it via one of four options.  Skype account, email address, cell phone number or .NET Passport account.

And that's it.  Windows 10 for free, the legit way.

Your welcome.  I actually tried it with my old system that was still running windows 7 pro 64bit and it installed and activated windows 10 no problem.  The only part of it that I don't like is you don't have the option to remove the windows startup password or change the sign in name.  But you can customize everything else to your hearts content.

You can install windows 10 without having a product key or even activating it.  To do that, use the media creation tool to make a windows install media using the "Install on another PC" option.  Then install windows 10 from the USB drive or DVD that you made.  When it gets to the point where it asks for the key code, click "Skip".  It's usually in the lower, left of the screen.  Keep your internet disconnected during the install process or it will force you to active it before the install is finished.  Once it's fully installed, you can plug your internet cable back in and run windows 10 for as long as you like without activating it.  But the draw back is you lose the ability to customize most windows settings to your likings.  And after the 3 day trial period expires, the desktop background image turns a blank, black screen after every reboot.  But you can turn it back on again.
