FPS boost on most games for a Nvidia GPU suported by current drivers

 If your Nvidia card is supported by the latest drivers as of about the start of 2022, there is  driver level support for a scaling and image sharpening tool called NIS that is similar to image scaling available on the 2000 series cards and up but it applies to as far back as GTX 700 series and can do about 77%image scaling without noticeable loss of image quality if the sharpening levels are dialed in. on some games gaining 8 to 20 FPS without a large lose in image quality. In some cases maybe not a noticeable lose.













I'm gonna try this on a few different configs to see what kind of an impact it makes on different laptops/desktops. I've seen people say it doesn't apply to their laptop drivers. but In think (at least in the case of mine it just shows up a bit different to the desktop options. closest I could find is the 3rd video Kt , your card would be a bit better than GTX 750 ti 2gb.

 I'd say it's worth trying I've farthest I've tried back on is a GTX 750 ti and just on the heaven benchmark so far but it made a very notable difference in the FPS made the scenes look slightly more bland but I had just left the sharpening at 20% (which is on the low side) but it didn't look like I changed to a lower res visually (not big a blocky).

 So far I think the driver support is basically back to the 600 series desktop cards and only back to the 800 series mobile chips as far as driver support. I haven't seen a proper list anywhere but tying to check for different drivers for windows 10, that has been my conclusion.

AMD has been using a software level technology like this for a few years now and it even supports some Nvidea cards.  Nvidea has been doing this at a hardware level called DLSS.  It's nice to see Nvidea getting onboard with this.  KT, are you fully aware of what this software is actually doing to improve your framerates?

 Pretty sure the easiest explanation would be that it renders the  scene at a lower resolution, up scales it to the native resolution that the monitor is set to output to then uses sharpening to try and make up for the missing detail with minimal fps loss at the down scaled resolution.  Or it lets you use a lower resolution setting while trying to look like it is not, at the same time giving you a bump up in FPS.
 If you had a game that was a bit to slow to play properly even at low settings. this might be a help if a few more FPS would make it more playable without looking like your taking a major dive in resolution. and since it is driver level. it can be used in most apps that  run in full screen. but even if it is enabled you don't have to use it for everything. just set it up for things it works best for. And best of all, if it is supported it is free.

That about sums it up.  And from what I have been hearing, Intel's up-coming GPU's are going to have their own software based rendering engine, similar to what AMD has been working on.
