The case against SSDs

Flash-based SSDs have revolutionized enterprise storage. But SATA SSDs have serious problems that show that after more than 50 years of disk-based storage, our ancient I/O stack must be rebuilt. Here's why.

Commentary: Interesting research so I decided I would share it here for discussion.  I am curious what One Eyed would say about these studies

I know that the basic technology behind the SSD drive stems back to the invention of the RAM memory module.  So no doubt, they are going to have to come up with something completely new.
