Hey hlfreak.  Nice to meet a fellow gold source fan.

hey sandman i sent you an email not sure if you got it

Yeah.  I did receive your email.  I apologize for not responding to it directly.

I too have been playing HL1 and TFC since they came out back in 1998.  Then later, came to adopt NS1.  Team SA was founded back in 2000 but inevitably died a few years ago due to lack of interest.  Some of still come around from time to time, but I have kept the site and servers going mainly for nostalgic reasons.

well for me  half life is like a itch you cant get rid of i keep going back and scratch at it from to time to time  .well for the paid hosting ive  had that for the past 5 years  so the offer still stand i dont think ill be getting rid of it anytime soon so if you want access to the servers to mess around with it also it has fast downloads.for the abyss hosting software you use i think it is little out dated when i hosted my sites and servers i used https://ampps.com/ its well updated  and  MySQL is a breeze with this you can update your forums to most recent version https://ampps.com/downloads plus was kind curious on what other games you guys play plus i have 7 backup servers loaded with games

with this covid crap going on i was hoping to get something going that everyone would enjoy and get there mind off life for a while and let loose

A little bit out dated?  My server is seriously outdated!  Both hardware and software wise.  I'm sure you've noticed it bog down when a few people are on the forums?  lol.  I've been meaning to upgrade it but it's low priority since it's getting so little use.  That and the pandemic has so many people staying at home.  So they need to upgrade their computers for whatever they need them for.   Finding new hardware is nearly impossible right now.   ::)  Unless you don't mind last gen tech?

Most of us have been playing other games.  Lately I have been playing 7 days 2 die, Overwatch and Dragon ball Xenoverse 2 mostly.  And occasionally, Mud Runners or Spin Tires from time to time when something new comes out.

For me I noticed people stopped playing NS1 when NS2 came out but NS2 DID NOT hold as much of an interest for anyone in SA. Then I got diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and tend to have fits of Narcolepsy while playing games so I stopped gaming 2 years ago. Still, I used to play TFC with Sandman and then got into TF2 which is completely different. I am up for any game where if I fall asleep while playing my team understands and don't die because of it ;) lol

When I first came to the SA website I had been a CS 1.5 gamer and was resistant to joining Steam at first which CS 1.6 required (Sandman knows I don't like change), so then I got into NS1 and found Sandman's servers. I was attracted to it because I wanted to learn and it was called a trainer server. I asked the noobiest questions but Sandman was always very helpful and the SA guild was always so nice to me and made me feel so welcome. I miss those days where we all used to play together and fill up the servers so much that we had to join the other team as well. Recently a fellow SA member named Frosty said the same thing (how he misses playing NS1 with everyone) so I invited him to come join the forums again. Who knows. Maybe we can get enough people to get a game going again.

I will install HLSW (http://www.hlsw.net/download/mirrors/78/HLSW_v1.4.0.3) and add the IP's you gave and check them out.

Okay I added them to my HLSW. I just have to install the games again :P

I tend to fall asleep sitting at the computer so it takes me longer to get anything done. Still, in HLSW you can add me.

You don't know your SteamID?  You could either jump in a game and enter the console command "status" or just ask me.   ::)

I know the console command but didn't want to do that as I was in the middle of things that were using up most of my ram lol

8 gigs is considered bare minimum for modern gaming in windows 10.  16 gigs would the sweet spot these days.  And if your doing a boat load of browsing with opening 100 tabs at once, 32 to 64 gigs might better suit the needs.  Maybe we can get together with oneeyed, Lets figure out exactly what you have and what your main board can support.  Maybe I can help you out.

What main board?  P8H61-M LE/CSM?  Seems this board only has 2 dimm slots and has a max limit of 16gb of ram.  8gb per slot.  Knowing your tastes, might I suggest these?

I currently have 2 4gb DDR3 = 8Gb RAM. My Mobo takes Dual-Channel DDR3 2200(O.C.) / 2133 (O.C.) / 2000 (O.C.) / 1866 (O.C.) / 1600 / 1333 / 1066MHz support

Since you have a Intel i5 2400, (non K sku, meaning not overclockable) there will be no need for (O.C.) ram speeds since you won't be able to take advantage of it.  Just stick with the 1600's.
