I use VLC daily for watching video files but besides screen capture of the player, I didn't know it could do so many things.

I've been using VLC exclusively for years.  I even have it on my cell phone and didn't know it could do all that.  Good to know.

Lets see if you can tell me what's wrong with this picture. and buy the way I haven't messed with the screen capture. came across this when after doing a disk cleanup I was at 111 gigs used/111 gigs free. the capture was done after the first disk cleanup because I seemed to have gained used space instead of free space after the cleanup.

Some of those VLC things I knew and others I wondered about when I stumbled across things in settings as I like to explore and figure out technical software. ;) I noticed the streaming option only recently but never researched it yet so I found the vid interesting. I do know you can run online radio through VLC no problem and have done that for a few years now.

How can disk clean up give you more space than your HDD is capable of having?

I noticed that too.  Total available space on drive C: is 223Gb.  But suggests you can clean up 285Gb?  My first thought would be, has the drive been properly partitioned?

As it turned out, I used that as a clue on figuring out what was going on. What windows did for some reason was it created a series if large highly compressed files that were supposed to be some kind of error report yet there was no massive amount of data added to my error reports during that time period. it made a bunch of compressed files (hidden system files) that I had to use a program to track down the files by how much room was being used. The compressed size of the files took up some space (over 40gigs) but the uncompressed total of those files was more than the amount of free space of the drive they were on (hence the funky numbers).
The program I used to find the offending files was called Treesize free edition, it can even let you see hidden system files, handy in this case. Ditched the goofy files and got space back. the 8 files I diched are noticeable in the picture.

I needed to track down were the files were by how much space was being used, Windows doesn't always show you all the details. I just mentioned that I used that program, I didn't say that it was the only way to see the hidden files.
