xtsiege .wad
« on: March 28, 2014, 12:51:30 pm »
I know this isn't really the place for tech questions since it's not a problem with the server but didn't see a better topic to ask. When I try to join the server when xtsiege map is running I get an error message saying "could not open xtsiege.wad". Would there be any way a computer illiterate individual like myself fix this problem. I have been wanting to try this map ever since it was introduced on the server. I'd greatly appreciate any help.

Oh.  Sorry.  I don't know why you are unable to download it.  Have you checked to see if you have that file and it's just not completely downloaded?

If all else fails, I have attached the file below.  I will also add this map to the maps download page as well.  Thanks for reminding me.

I downloaded it and I still can't get the wad file to open when trying to join the server. I must be doing something wrong. I have no idea what it is I'm not doing right.

Okay.  Just to make sure we have all the bases covered, lets make sure you have all the files in the right places.  First, the ns_xtsiege.wad goes in the NS root directory.  Meaning, when you open the NS folder, there it is at the bottom.
The bsp (map) and res (resource) files go in the NS/maps folder.
The spr (sprite) goes in the NS/sprites/minimap folder.
And I think there is one sound file.  It goes in the NS/sound/ns_xtsiege folder.

Did you try downloading the map from our downloads page?

Yes, I downloaded it from the downloads page. I'll look to see if the files you mentioned are in the right places.

None of the files were where they should've been. I moved them all to where you said to. I'm just gonna have to wait till the map comes around again on the server to see if it worked. Thanks for the help Sandman.

Okay.  Let me know how it works out.  By the way, you can load up your own listenserver just to make sure the map loads.
