Apex Legends - The Next Evolution of Battle Royale - Free

https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends

Looks interesting. Since I seem to be doing a little better with my sleep condition (not yet back to gaming but still a gamer at heart is still a gamer whether she can play without falling asleep or not) I am interested. Of course, I am interested in playing a few games I have in my Steam list that I haven't but they have to be fast games (short) because of my condition.

Does anyone else have this particular game though?

I have Apex Legends but I have never actually played it.  Apex is not really a fast paced game, but the combat situations can be rough, if you can survive them.  The game does have a bit of a learning curve so try not to let it frustrate you to much.

I haven't tried it yet as well. When I installed it I fell asleep at the computer and dropped my current mouse again lol. But it looked interesting AND fast paced. You say it isn't fast?

It's really not fast paced until your locked in to a combat situation.  But you do need to keep moving.  Those video's you see my friend Jeremy posting on facebook are of pro players and not a far representation to the general player base.  Help from team mates is nice but there is no actual need for team play.  I've seen some unusual tactics.  One in particular where someone finds somewhere to hide out and let the other players thin the opposition.  :duh:

On the good side, with the current vid card and CPU You should be close to 60 fps on medium settings KT.

I haven't even tried it yet but seems a LOT like the OVERWATCH game. To me, Overwatch was fast-paced but I had a hard time remembering all the skills as they are different keys for each character.

I actually play Overwatch a lot.  It's one of my favorite games right now.  And that game is fairly fast paced as you have a really short time frame to complete the objectives.

And Dave might be pretty close with his guess.  It should run ok on your current system but you may have to dial the settings back a bit to get decent frame rates.  Hell, I tried running it using my CPU's integrated graphic's and it was able to run it.  It's wasn't great at 20 fps on low, but it did run it.  lol

Overwatch isn't free right? But I do have it. Haven't played since I was diagnosed with my sleep problem though. Has anything changed in the game since a year ago or so? Oh wait, this is the Apex Legends thread. Do we have an OverWatch thread?

Slightly better CPU than you have but otherwise about comparable.

No, not now.  But I had the free public beta.  And when it went live, I still didn't have to pay for it.  Although, I did pay something like $10 to upgrade it to snag a few skins you can't get otherwise.

Actually a Core i5 2600 is a noticeably better CPU than a Core 2 quad.   But otherwise, you should be able to get around 50 fps if you dial back the settings a bit.

No, not free anymore.  Yes.  A whole lot has changed in the past year.  Mainly a few new hero's and a couple of new maps and some new game modes to name a few things.  And I don't think we have a overwatch thread.  Sorry if I took this off topic.

She has a I5 2400 and the benchmarked system had a I5 2500k that's why I said a bit faster CPU. Went to the I5, GTX 760, at least last year(KT).

I wrote 2600?  My bad.  Still, the 2400 may not be the unlocked version, but still better than a core 2 quad.  KT needs to update her sig.  lol

2400 is not unlocked , k versions are, but I don't think her board has overclocking anyway.
