I just saw the posting, a bit late for tonight. but tried calling you anyway, no answer. maybe Sat, if you have a bit of time I could maybe get you to bring your (with help) over to my place, so it can be properly cleaned and upgraded, then get it back to your place hopefully same day. I might have at least a "for now" fan solution also.

I'll have to see when she gets back to me. I can't help with what I can't access. But ya, I know how important cool temps are.

I fell asleep. Woke up in the middle of the night ... that is what I get from going to bed so early but I was so tired ..

Today I am hoping but since I also missed my family doctor calling me yesterday (cell phone so even though I heard it ring I didn't get to it in time and they are only taking voice mail so not like I could call them back) I might have to deal with that today instead. Trying to get an ECHO scheduled for my heart. And tonight since it is First Friday I will be busy as well. So I am hoping sometime during the afternoon as I can't Sunday neither as I am going to Latin Mass at 2pm (my mom insisted on that one this time so we reserved for the 2  of us a seat). Seems I am always so busy and when not I fall asleep without even intending to. Still, this HAS to get done. I might have to leave the computer at your place over night if I don't have the time... :( This will be hard for me as I live on it but .. has to be done.

Will call you but if you don't hear from me by 1:30pm call me. Just don't call between 2:40pm and 3:30pm.

Thank you OneEyed for upgrading my PC. :)

Can you post what I have now?

Good.  I'm glad to hear that you got all that sorted out.

Oh.  About that 4tb drive.  If you want to keep it as a single partition, don't use "primary partition".  I believe that there is a 3tb limit to that.  Use basic partition instead.

Actually the issue was in the drive format type:

At first he formatted as MBR, which means Windows 10 couldn't recognize the drive as  over 2tb properly. To overcome this, he had to either use GPT or make it two 2tb partitions on the 4tb hard drive. I didn't want it to be partitioned so he looked online and found out he should have chosen GPT but he wasn't familiar with that as it is a thing only since Win 10. It was a learning experience and now he knows for the future for all his PC clients.

I have already explained how to get around that 2tb limitation.  You have to partition the drive as a basic partition.

As to KT's question to what she has now besides the 4tb drive that was put in I also upgrade her ram to 16gb, and her cpu to an I7 2600 at 3.4ghz (replacing the i5 2400 3.1ghz).

Especially when we are on lock down again and can only buy food at the moment or medications or other essentials. Other things are taped off in the stores this time around.

For some reason my computer does NOT read that I have 16gb. It hasn't for awhile now. And then I noticed my signature that reminded me that it was supposed to be 16.

One of the sticks must have come loose, luckily that has an easy fix.

I figured that might be the issue.  Either that or not cleanly seated CPU.  I had that happen with my P6T board when I upgraded the processor from the i7 930 to a Xeon X5690.  The system booted up and run just fine.  But when I checked the system property tab, it said that the triple channel configuration was only running in dual channel.  It turned out to be a stray strand of cat hair had blocked one of the cpu pins.

It was reading all the ram here then when she went home, it was also, loosened up later. I'm pretty sure she told me one stick doesn't look seated properly. I'm very sure it's not a socket problem on that one.
